Use Your Canon Camera As A Webcam

Canon has just released their EOS Webcam Utility Beta Software that allows you to use your Canon DSLR, Mirrorless, or Power Shot cameras as webcams.

The Coronavirus outbreak has meant that a lot of meetings, interviews and presentations have gone online. A real need for high quality webcam video and audio has arisen, and this is a fantastic way to pull it off.

More relevant to churches though, is that this means you can easily stream to Facebook or Youtube from a quality camera, without having to purchase a capture card.

If you’re currently live-streaming from an Iphone or something similar, this might be the perfect way to step up your production value without spending too much!

How Does It Work?

The Webcam utility is pretty straight forward. It just requires a USB cable to plug your camera into a Windows computer. Just download the utility, install it, and follow the prompts.

That’s it!

Your camera will appear as a webcam in your computer, and will work flawlessly with programs like OBS, and Youtube or Facebook’s built in streaming tools.
